MEV-1 pandemic[]
Alan lived in San Francisco, California and was one of the first people to notice people dying due to MEV-1. He was obsessed with proving that MEV-1 was a bio-weapon used to cause mass terror over the Thanksgiving weekend, and asserts that the CDC (US) and WHO are lying to the public regarding cures for MEV-1 infection. After MEV-1 becomes widespread, he markets and sells forsythia, an unapproved herbal remedy, as the "cure" for MEV-1 and blogs himself taking it after showing symptoms of MEV-1 infection telling viewers his survival will be a guarantee of forsythia's effectiveness. He is later arrest on fraud and manslaughter charges, where it is determined he was never infected with MEV-1.
